The dental filling material amalgam, long rumored to have detrimental side effects from its mercury content, showed no cognitive effects in a new study. An article in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives indicated that exposure to mercury from amalgam was low and that there was no correlation between the number of amalgam fillings and cognitive function.
